BRATTLEBORO — As the cold winter weather warms into spring, local cannabis business leaders look forward to the widely celebrated pot holiday: 4/20.

For Scott Sparks of Vermont Hempicurean, Vermont Grow Barn, and the Vermont Bud Barn the celebratory occasion is an opportunity for locals to come together to celebrate all things cannabis—the warmer weather, too, will surely bring locals out of winter hibernation.

Sparks plans to host his 4/20 event outside of the Vermont Bud Barn at 257 Marlboro Road in Brattleboro.

Locals can show up at noon, and the event will begin to fizzle out in the late afternoon.

“From noon to late afternoon on Saturday, 4/20, we will have a tent outside the front of Vermont Bud Barn with tables set up for some of our southern Vermont growers to meet and greet our customers, said Sparks. “They will be showing photos of their farms and products as well as promotional materials like stickers, lighters, and t-shirts.”

Sparks stated that the intention behind promoting direct communication between consumers and growers was to enhance the overall levels of education in a casual, meet-and-greet atmosphere.

So far, Sparks said that seven vendors in southern Vermont will be present at the event.

The vendors that have signed up so far are Craft Cannabis of Vermont (Guilford), Burrington Hill Company (Whittingham), Verdiggity Organics (Manchester), High Priestess (Brattleboro), Smoke Ranch Redemption (Guilford), and District 802 (Brattleboro). Vermont Bud Barn will also be offering their products for sale in the dispensary.

Nothing will be exhibited or for sale outside the store. Cannabis consumption is not allowed on-site or in public in Vermont.

The day will also feature great-tasting locally-made food available for guests to enjoy.

“We will also have Paradox Pastry doing a pop-up outside. Rebecca makes incredible pastries and donuts that are always a hit when she visits. Jamaican Jewelz will be offering her delicious Jamaican food as well. Don’t forget to visit Leopard Frog Art Gallery for visual stimulus and great gifts. We also will have day-long promotions at Vermont Hempicurean and Vermont Grow Barn,” added Sparks.

Later in the evening, the Sparks haven’t planned for the festivities to stop.

Sparks says he plans to move the event to the Stone Church in Brattleboro where guests will be treated to live music and even more food.

“On Saturday evening, the celebration moves to Stone Church, where Vermont Bud Barn and the cultivators mentioned will sponsor a fun evening of music with The Trichomes and Club d’Elf,” said Sparks.

Vendor tables will be on-site for more consumer-grower engagement with complimentary food available.

The doors to the Stone Church will open at 7 p.m. with the show starting an hour later at 8 p.m. The Stone Church is located at 210 Main St., in Brattleboro.

Sparks said he expects a sold-out show and advises locals to get their tickets early. The cover charge is $20, but for those who stop in Vermont Bud Barn, Sparks said he has a “special code to get in for a very special price.”

The code will be good until the day before the show or until tickets sell out. Tickets can be purchased at https://stonechurchvt.com/.

“The day of events is aimed to support your local growers and the only Vermont family-owned dispensary in Brattleboro,” said Sparks.
