New York officials are now able to give out more licenses to sell recreational marijuana in the state.This follows an appeals court ruling Tuesday, allowing the state to hand out licenses in central and western New York.When designing the New York cannabis market, legislators intentionally allowed the first round of licenses to go to those who had previous “pot convictions.”This was to give those impacted by “drug law enforcement” a new opportunity.Gov. Kathy Hochul, who was pleased by the decision, said in part: “For the first time, New Yorkers in nearly every region of the state, will have access to safer, high-quality, adult-use cannabis products.”
