BLOOMFIELD, NJ — New Jersey state police carried out a search warrant at a Bloomfield home last week, finding an illegal marijuana grow operation and seizing dozens of plants, authorities announced Monday.

Authorities launched an investigation after the Bloomfield Health Department alerted the Bloomfield Police Department about a “large quantity of marijuana plants” growing in the backyard of a residence on Thomas Street.

Bloomfield police contacted their peers at the NJ State Police Narcotics Unit, who conducted an investigation and applied for a search warrant.

State police executed the search warrant on Friday, seizing 84 “large” marijuana plants and arresting Aman Hamlett, 25, of Hillside, authorities said.

Hamlett was charged with maintaining or operating a CDS production facility, possession with intent to distribute CDS marijuana, possession of CDS marijuana, possession with intent to distribute CDS marijuana within 1,000 feet of a school, and possession of CDS paraphernalia.
